Yellow Lantern Magnolia
Creamy yellow, fragrant, tulip-shaped flowers appear as the leaves emerge in spring. The leaves are dark green in summer, changing to an unremarkable yellow-brown in fall. This is a complex hybrid: M. acuminata var. subcordata x M. x soulangeana ‘Alexandrina’. Magnolias perform best in moist, slightly acidic rich, well-drained soils. They are generally intolerant of very wet or dry sites.
