Best known for the spectacular, brilliant scarlet fall color. In the summer it is a nice dark green. The new growth in the spring is a bright grass green. It is has a rounded form, and corky bark. It needs full sun to part shade, in average, well-drained soils. It is frequently used as a hedge. Prune as needed for desired form.
