Sweet Birch
This is a pyramidal tree that becomes more rounded with age. Lustrous dark green leaves turn a beautiful golden yellow in fall. It is also known as Cherry Birch or Black Birch. Historically, Wintergreen oil was produced from its bark. It prefers full sun to partial shade, and a moist acidic soil, but will tolerate a dry site. It is native to eastern North America.
