Cercis canadensis ‘Appalachian Red’

Appalachian Red Redbud

A small, graceful tree with a profusion of spring flowers that are purple-red in bud, opening to intense fuchsia pink to red. Fall color is yellow. The flowers appear before the new foliage. It will adapt to many soils, except very wet ones.  It grows best in full sun to part shade. The original tree was found along a roadside in Maryland.
