Texas Scarlet Flowering Quince
A compact, spreading shrub with glossy leaves and a profusion of bright, watermelon red blooms in early spring. The flowers are followed by fruit, safe to eat, but bitter. Prefers full sun to part shade and average moisture. Prune as needed for shape. It is used in shrub borders, as a hedge, or for mass planting.
