Western Sword Fern
A medium textured fern with leathery, shiny dark green fronds. In early spring, the young fronds or fiddleheads appear and slowly unroll. They are native to Western North America. It prefers part to full shade, in moist, rich soils. Once established, it is drought tolerant, especially in shade. Trim off any old, tired fronds in spring.
